All Fired Up Quest and the Mini-game

August 27th, 2008

All Fired Up Quest

Speak to King Roald in the Varrock Palace throne room to start this quest. The Kind has a plan to increase his kingdom’s security using a network of beacons that could warn Varrock of an invasion. The beacons have been set up and people fired to maintain them but they haven’t actually been tested yet…. This won’t take you long if you have the firemaking skills required. Access to a mini-game follows the completion of the quest. Pyromaniacs - go for the burn!

Map of the Quest Territory

Quest Territory

Requirements:
Level 43 Firemaking
Priest in Peril

Items needed:
45 logs - any kind, a tinderbox, energy pots, tele to Varrock, and an axe.

King Roald says that they’ve set up a system of beacons from the River Salve to the wilderness. He needs help testing the beacons, which are put up to warn of any attack on Misthalin. Agree to help him.

Talk to King Roald

The King tells you to talk to the fire tender, Blaze Sharpeye. Blaze’s stationed south of the Temple of Paterdomus. Blaze wants you to light the beacon near him. You need to use 20 logs with the beacon, then use the tinderbox on the beakon. Talk to Blaze again. He wants you to light another beacon near Squire Fyre .

Blaze Out Of Control

Head over to the beacon near Squire Fyre, near the limestone quarry west of the starting point for Rag and Bone Man quest.

Squire Frye’s Beakon

Light it with 20 logs and a tinderbox , just like the other one. Go back to talk to Blaze again.

Set The Second Fire

Blaze says you must notice the fire is dying down and asks you to relight it for him. You only need five logs this time. Just use the logs with the beakon.

A Few More Logs On The Barbee…..

Talk to Blaze after you have relit it. He tells you there are 14 other beacons and that the rest of the network needs to be tested out. If you can keep them all lit, there are great rewards awaiting you. You will need to report to King Roald now to give him the news.

Report To The King

Go back to King Roald to receive your reward.

Quest Complete!

QUEST COMPLETED!

Rewards:
1 Quest Point
20 K gp
5.5K Firemaking XP
Access to the All Fired Up mini-game.

The All Fired Up Mini-game is a continuation of the quest. It requires level 92 Firemaking to complete and there is a time limit.

If you can keep six beacons lit at the same time, you will get a ring that will help you in firemaking.
Ring Of Firemaking
If you can keep ten beacons lit at the same time, you will get a pair of gloves that work in combination with the ring to help you with firemaking.
Gloves of Flames
If you can keep 14 beacons lit at the same time, you will get the Inferal Adze - a fire enhanced tool that will assist in woodcutting and mining.
Inferno Adze

You will have to keep all 14 beacons burning at the same time to get all three. This sounds more like a mini-quest and not a mini-game.

Here is the best I could do for a map - the pink dots are the beacon spots but they were pretty hard to get on one screenie. The beacons show up on the new Runescape map as little markers - except one on the west line is missing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 14 Beacon Spots

You will need 20 logs per beacon and it’s sounding as though it would work to fill all the beckons with the logs first and then run to each spot to light them. Magic logs burn longer so if you are able to use those to burn, do so. Take energy pots, strange fruit or the explorer’s ring to help you hurry - along with boots of lightness and spottier cape. Protect from Missles in the eastern Trollheim areas. Super stat restore will help with the Godwars area because being in the area lowers your stats - that means if your firemaking goes below 92, you won’t be able to light the beacon. Now that I am looking through different help sites and forums, I see we need to fix things and do things to be able to use certain beckon spots. One needs jute fibres and I have to plant some now because no one is selling them on the GE at the moment - of course.

So here is a list of extra needed items to do all 14 beckons:
Level 70 smithing - a hammer and 4 iron bars
Level 59 construction - 2 nails and 2 planks
Level 60 crafting - a needle and 3 jute fibres
Level 64 agility
Level 92 firemaking
Taking all the extras as you check each beacon out, before actually loading with logs, lets you repair anything needed. Some of those spots are irritating to get to, especially the one in Goblin Village, so it’s best to check them out before doing the actual log loading. There are four beacon areas that need to be repaired before you can get to them.

Northeast of Goblin Village, past the Wilderness ditch. You’ll need to fix broken pegs. Take a hammer and two iron bars.
Northeast of Goblin Village, past the Wilderness ditch.

West of Dark Warrior’s Fortress. You’ll need to fix the ladder. Take a
hammer, 2 nails and 2 planks.
West of Dark Warrior’s Fortress

Northwest of the God Wars Dungeon. You’ll need to fix the windbreak. Take a needle and 3 jute fibres.
Northwest of the God Wars Dungeon

Northwest of the small altar in the Wilderness. You’ll need to fix the ladder. Take the hammer and two iron bars.
Northwest of the small altar in the Wilderness

The rest of the spots need no repairs but the wildy one up by the Frozen Waste Plateau is more dangerous so take some food and super stat restore and a prayer pot.

Ok - both Prime and I got all the fires going at once. The King awards each piece ……..
The Ring
The Ring

The Gloves
Flame Gloves

The Inferno Adze
The Inferno Adze

All equipped……………
The New Fire Items

The inferno adze burns every 3 to 5 logs as you cut. This ended up quite a challenging mini-quest after such an innocent quest! Jagex is calling it a mini-game but once done, I’m not sure what you get as rewards. If you drop or lose your ring, gloves, or adze - you have to do all the beacons again. The gloves do not protect your hands when you pick night shade - at least for the moment.

What To Do…. eHow To Do…. Next on Runescape

August 25th, 2008

# Madon Lauxes Says:
August 22nd, 2008

Hey Marlaine, I got a question, you seem to work on so many skills, but do you ever log on to RuneScape and not really have any set plan. Because I do that all the time, and then I get too bored too quick. I am also wondering, what is you favorite skill? You seem to enjoy them all but what is your absolute favorite? And while we are on that subject, what is your least favorite skill?

Love your blog,
Madon Lauxes

Marlaine replies:
Thanks Madon! I am going to think this over and add comments as the day goes on.

I really don’t have a set plan most of the time. I go by whatever mood grabs me. I thought a few days ago that I would be getting more crafting and herblore but instead, I just had a need to hammer stuff so I worked on construction. I cut and plank oak logs when I have an axe and some gp in my inventory when I get my battlestaffs in Varrock sometimes. I wait until I have a whole lot of them to do a level and I noticed that I had more than enough planks. Actually there were almost enough planks for two construction levels in the last week. After all that whamming, my arm is sore and I probably won’t work on that again for a longgggggggggggggggg time. I got seriously bored with remove/build and frustrated with that busy bee butler. When I don’t have anything in my inventory after getting the battlestaffs, I fill up with maple logs and a tinder and do a couple walk ‘n burns. Because I have 99 firemaking, but ended up high in high scores, I try to do a load of logs here and there to stay somewhere near the 200 mark. Once you have a higher high score, you have to sort of maintain it or you will drop like a rock! I was in the top 100 fire making but…… shrugs……… other things to do! When the fire making - I want to call it burning - quest comes out, it probably won’t help me much but it might make me sorry I already have 99. Shrugs - or it will help me get back into the top 100 burners - smiling!

Lil’ Bit Tip - (Notice new page to the right?) 16 is the most convenient number for getting seaweed and battlestaffs - I know that doesn’t sound like much of a tip but……… that number is the best for running back and forth for those two things. I used to empty everything except gp but ended up with only a few items for the last run. Then, I’d have to go searching for all my stuff again.

Today, I am not sure what I want to work on. I have a couple articles that I’m working on for eHow - how to cut your dog’s nails and your cat’s. (Dang you guys….. I am not going to use all the pics we took of our Monsieur Phat Cat while I trimmed his nails but honestly - if looks could kill, Prime and I would both be laid out in our “Sunday Best” with flowers propped in our cold, cold hands right now………hahahahahahahaha! Phat was mad at Prime for watching his humiliation and taking pics - I think….. ) Oh that reminds me - eHow is having a special for their writers. If you sign up using this link - MarlaineMarie@eHow sign up friends! - and write just one article, I will get extra credit. Writing those articles generates passive income every month! Even if I didn’t add another article, my monthly income would increase. The first month I earned 50 cents, the second earned $5, the third - over $10, the fourth brought in $15, then over $20, and it is going up all the time! Now that I see what works for eHow articles, (check out the most popular articles for a list of subjects that people are looking for as a guide to what to write about), I have started to actually enjoy writing non-fiction articles! Since only 10 people will count for me, this won’t do me a whole lot of good but I do recommend this to anyone who likes writing. The idea of passive income for the rest of your whatever or until the site disappears is incredible (That’s getting to be unlikely since it’s getting so popular)! You can also save all your articles and/or post them other places because eHow has no restrictions about your own use of your work. (Do pay attention to other sites you might post them on because they might demand all copyrights to your article - that’s why I post mine to Prime’s and my sites and blogs - no plagiarism if it’s our own anyway!) If eHow dies or…. you can use any of your articles somewhere else like Gather. eHow pays money - not gift certs - so that’s the other plus. Even my brother, CycleCyco, alias Bear, is earning more money every month and he isn’t adding articles all the time like I do! If you start now and keep adding a couple articles now and then, your passive income from this site could reach enough to live happily. I wish I had known about this one a couple years ago! I am even planning to organize and self publish a couple of books using the articles I’ve already published. You can write about any subject but it has to be non-fiction writing. I can’t post my short fiction stories there - blast it! (You can post fiction on Gather - but again, it pays in certificates.) It is also great writing practice. Write articles for assignments at school (if you’re still in school) and re-write to fit eHow’s format wizard. Added note: I hated writing non-fiction/articles before eHow and NEVER thought I would be writing in that style.

I am going to log on now and see where I left myself. I don’t remember if I went over to the staff seller yesterday so I probably lost out on yesterday’s batch of staffs. Oh I am still near my house with noted oak planks that were left over from yesterday. So, I’ll go to my house and use those planks up first since I am all set up to do it. It is more time efficient to just continue with something when you are all set up than to equip and un-equip all the time. Besides, I will want to get another construction level eventually.

I am almost done with the logs I had noted and am looking over the Swifty side bar to see where I stand with some of my levels. I had a few things go busy today so I didn’t get to really work on much and I knew I wouldn’t sooooooooooooooooo………….. I did some runecrafting, since I need some runes anyway. Smiling……….. thing is, I always try to do a couple things at once. At times it seems like I am not getting much accomplished but in reality, I get closer to levels in multiple skills at the same time. (…. and I am trying to stay high in a couple of skills over 99 at the same time which doesn’t help my overall!)

When I get time to do something I really enjoy, I like doing the implings in Lost City area. I can almost hear those cuties giggle. (I like to believe they escape when you open the jar but leave behind whatever they were carrying.) But my fav skill is…… When I was a free player, I loved the smithing/mining the most. I actually never ranged or crafted anything while I was a free player. I was level 50 something when I started members and had most of the free skills up to 50 or more, with all but one free quest completed. I’d have to say that runecrafting might be my least favorite, running close to summoning and hunter. Hunter has to be the worst for actually giving nothing helpful or useful to any other skill. The spottier cape helps extend run and the gloves of silence supposedly improves thieving but that is about all it helps. I actually started Runescape because I thought I would be able to do magic stuff and be a wizard like Merlin or Samantha/Bewitched.

So which skill is my fav??????????? Hmmmmmmmm……….. All in all, I think herblore is it.

Runescape In The Guinness World Book of Records!

August 23rd, 2008

From Runescape’s news page…

RuneScape has entered the record books this week. The game has been recognised as the most popular free MMORPG in the world for the second year in a row, with a certificate awarded by Guinness World Records. That’s one record that Usain Bolt didn’t manage to get!

The presentation took place at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany, where RuneScape has been showcasing RuneScape HD.

Congrats Runescape! Though we don’t all like the changes being made at times, we still can’t and don’t want to leave the game! It is the best all around game on the net! It offers more than war and fighting and is without child-like characters that look 12 but are wearing 40DD halter bras deco-ed in spikes…………

Wowowowowow! Runescape is pretty popular - and being in the Book of Records is definitely proof! When they said 130 million players - obviously they weren’t kidding! Whew! I am kind of surprised in a way. I knew I loved this from the start and I often see people in my library playing. (I sometimes go up to them and say - Hey check out Marlaine and Primefalcon on the game or this Musings blog.) Hehehe - I love this game! I actually started playing so I could work on dialogue for my stories but I learned a whole lot more! I see all kinds of people doing all kinds of things. People with incredible honor and people with no honor at all. I see cause and effect. I have met some wonderful people on the game who have become my real life friends for life. Of course, I met my husband who is from Australia - he was in Australia when I first met him and selling yew logs on Runescape.

What a story to tell future kids! Laughing! There was a mix up and some other guy stepped in to buy the logs Prime was selling, even though Prime said ok to my offer. I asked what happened with the logs - a bit peeved. Prime was so sorry, he said he’d go cut some more and left, quick - before I could tell him not to. He was so nice about it that I showed him the very best place to go do yews, fletch them, pick flax and spin, and then add the bow string, then finally high alk - all in one spot. Smiling………….. and that was our beginning. Funny part was - he never sold yew logs and I never bought yew logs - except that day. (This was before the Grand Exchange and trading limits - of course!) We knew each other more than a year before he came to Wisconsin to meet me in real life.

BTW - use Skype for internet long distance “calling”. It’s free to download and free to use. Prime and I talk to his parents for hours at a time for totally free! All you need is a microphone and speakers or a decent computer headphone with a mic.

I would like to add that tolerance is the best attitude with people on this game. I found out that one person who seemed like one of the worst people in the world was actually a 14 year old who was being shuffled around to different foster families and trying to act like it didn’t matter. Another was a wondering if either of his parents was coming home that night and if he would be getting anything to eat that day. Yeah, some of the stories were probably BS or a con, so I am not advocating giving personal information to anyone on the internet. Just be tolerant when someone is being snotty or crabby or whatever. You don’t have to end up married to them! But - as I always say to Prime when he is ticked off at someone - that person could be a 10 year old with abusive parents, even if the age limit is 13.

So - back to my next construction level - I still have a bit to go but it’s not impossible to get another level today. (I also broke down and bought 2k oak planks to get this done!)

Well - it’s the next day. I had to do some planking and a lot around here. I am under 100k to the construction level now though. I have been buying oak logs for 44gp each and taking half loads or Torte, the tortoise, to get extra logs while getting these planked. It seems a waste of runes to use Lunar Mage to make those planks……… Since I don’t need mage xp, this doubles my planks pretty fast really - but still boringggggggggggggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, I will get the construction level in about an hour or so. I am watching a DVD about how to build a computer so it won’t be quite so boring…. smiling!~

I really like the toggle run on the upper circle menu! I still don’t always remember it’s there but it beats having to open up the options wrench/spanner. (Aussies and the English say spanner - and Prime says Australia and England have very little in common - ha!)

68k to go to level 89. I swear - once I have 99, I will never use the butler again! Instead of firing him, I will make him stay in my house with NOTHING to do! He will not be able to go to the bank to get anything out. He will NOT be able to give me notice! He will have no TV or Internet or access to a computer! No phone. His only free activity will be going to the back 40 to look at his gp horde! His only duty will be to clean my cat’s kitty litter box! I won’t need any of his stupid spiked tea and - in rl - I hate tea! No more of that ridiculous smirky happy face once I’ve paid him after his threats of quitting! He will have to ceaselessly pace the grounds 24hours a day - 365 days a year……………….!

Butler

Oh He’s happy now - but he goes right back to dull butler right after he gets his pay.

Happy Now?

Ok - got the level with some planks to spare!

Construction 89
……….. and over 503k to the next level or over 10k planks ……….sigh……

No Update But Construction Level Today!

August 21st, 2008

I started doing the oak larders last night and feel sure I will get the construction level today in about an hour or so. Sigh………. talk about long and slow! I still have half the level to go to 88. I used the 2nd highest butler and he brings me the planks faster than I can do a load of planks anyway. I send him off for more when I take the 20 from him.

Cutting oaks doesn’t give you a lot of woodcutting xp but it does give you a few nests. Keep an eye on it - it almost seems as though, whispering - when you take your fingers off the mouse and it doesn’t move at all for a while, you get a nest more often. I’ve noticed this often…….. I set my screen so I can see the words on the messages and when it says A bird’s nest, I click it …….. but I am usually on another page on top of the Runescape page reading something when the nest drops. Once, I had two nests drop within three chops and got them both! Whispering lower, so sometimes I take my hand off the mouse on purpose………….. shhhhhhhhh………….. because it seems not to drop with you keep that mouse or arrow keys moving! Another note: the war tortoise is a pain because it steps in the way when you are doing things and slows you down in a couple says sometimes. Then you have to keep an eye on it’s time and if you miss the time, it drops your stuff. I’m not sure it’s worth using since the shards do cost you - I have to think that over.

BTW - I don’t know when it changed, but the energy button glows when your mouse goes over it and you can toggle into run or back to walk from the upper circle now. That is very, very convenient!

I’m under 100k to the construction level and I think the butler buries his gp! Every time you accidentally click away from him after he gives you your request, he steps over to the door to leave the house. Then he heads north west to the back 40 the moment he can slip out! What butler leaves the side of him employer in the middle of a big reconstruction project? To put it point blank, he’s asking to be fired! Maybe he’s been taking a little more out of the bank than I send him for and he’s planning to disappear to the South Seas or something!!!!!!!! The Demon butler was even worse! Tisk - so hard to get good help nowadays…….

In general, the basic formula for estimating oak planks to oak larders for a level is 100k = 1,800 planks - actually a bit less, but I am not interested in knowing the exact amount or I would be using a calculator. I try to save up 2k per 100k so I have a lot extra. I hate being set up for construction and then having to run for more planks even if I could buy them on the GE! Under 50k now and I have plenty of logs!

Ok I got the level but now I have to go to the library to pick up some of Prime’s & my requests.

Construction 88

Sheesh…………. I’ll need about 9k planks for the next level……….. sigh…….. I’ve got enough planks and logs- 4k left and 7k logs - I’m going for another level! I might go to lunar magic or………. hmm… we’ll see how far I am tonight.

No Update Today Sooooo…….

August 20th, 2008

I was a little surprised that there were no updates but when I am on the game, I try to keep busy. For the last few days, I have been alking away and picking up nightshade. I had lots of mith plates and addy plates, plus air battlestaffs ——- sigh ——— all that gp piling up and no xp to help any of my skills while I am doing the alking. Since I have 99 mage, the xp is upping my mage high score so it’s not a complete waste. I was just over 7,000 on mage high scores last week and now I’m - holy….. 5644 at the moment! - I’ve been picking that nightshade and getting a few loads of jangerberries on the ogre island near the nightshade cave. I just don’t understand why people waste runes teleing to one spot all the time! The Tele grab and high alk are helping me get herblore seconds for even more xp later! Of course, the daily herb planting and the gathering from Miscellania also help with later xp in herblore. Zammy Wine grabbing might be the most doodlely dang dullest deed to do on the game - next to alking, of course!

Zammy Wine Grab

One guy came in and asked if I could actually make money on the staffs ……………………. hahahahaha!

Battlestaffs - $7k
Pure Essense - $130 each ? Made into natures…….
Lava Staff - free from drop
High Alk for $9300
Xp and Gp - well worth it!
That’s not even factoring in the hundreds of nightshade, zammy wine or seaweed I pick while alking.
Or the xp for crafting the staffs, the orbs, and the enchanting…
Or the xp for the herblore pots I’ll be able to make and the gp selling the pots on the GE…

I know I’ve discussed this on this blog before but it just deserves to be repeated - do lots of things at one time. Don’t just tele in one spot for mage xp or buy everything for a crafting project for the xp! I know one woman who spent millions to get runecraft to 91 to do double natures - I really don’t see how she will make the gp back! She didn’t get any other skills up while doing that either - so nothing to work with later!

Ok have to do some attaching of orbs to staffs now for another round of alking a bit later today. Only 1.224 million to go to 99 Crafting!

Once I can get serious about doing herblore, I will have a nice amount of herbs & nests and seconds to whittle down the xp to the next level. I will be going for Zammy wines too with this next batch of battlestaffs I will put together and alk today - so that will be two spells I will be constantly casting. Then back to empowering more orbs for more staffs for more crafting for more alking and picking nightshades and/or zammy wine. I have an audio program to listen to today so that will work out great! (I mentioned nightshade in real life today on eHow - Immune System - hehehehe and thought about how much nightshade I have been picking! If it was real, whew!)

Ok - back to making the battlestaffs, then charging more orbs and grabbing more wines while alking more. Gp and xp - coming right up!

Old Wildy, Duelin’ In The Streets, and Level 98 Crafting!

August 16th, 2008

Runescape is bringing back the old Wildy and Duelin’ in the streets again. At least they won’t be bringing back the sleeping in bed rolls - let’s hope anyway! I am glad that will only be on certain worlds. Being challenged every step every where is a biggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg pain. But - you guys know I am really a female - not just a guy pretending to be female - so you can’t be too surprised that I don’t want to fight with people, especially in the streets again. I do hope it’s voluntary because I would like to at least look around and watch the duels and fights in action. Too bad we can’t fence and use rapiers. The black long sword is cool as a thin sword but not quite right.

I do wish using the bank would stop changing the last menu screen we used in our inventory! First, it was reopening in the spanner page and now it’s always reopening in the stat page.

I am almost to a crafting level and sort of doing whatever I might have on hand. I save a lot of gems except sapphires. I will only save sapphires up if I need more gaming necklaces. I never cut all of my gems because you just never know what you might need in a quest - and when a quest needs something you don’t have, you can count on everyone else trying to buy it from the GE at the same time. Ok………… got it - finally!!!!!!

98 Crafting!

I now have a whole lot of castle wars rings, ruby ammys and diamond bolts! Also a lot of dragon hide armour to put on the exchange or high alk. I’ll see what gives more gp.

I am back to charging orbs, (I am - after all - ONLY 1.229 MILLION away from 99 Crafting - sigh……….) but I’ve been making stops at the spiders or the earth warriors on the way. Both drop a decent amount of gold charms and I slowly save them up this way but the earth warriors also drop lantas and other high herbs, natures, and laws.

Cyclecyco, alias Bear, (my rl brother) sent me some interesting facts in an email and that inspired me to write an article about how to find out if stuff is - Fact or False…….. Check out How To Validate Information on MarlaineMarie at eHow.

Runecrafting Guild Is Now Open For Membership

August 13th, 2008

Well the Runescrafting Guild is open in the Wizard’s Tower. You
must go through a portal that is located upstairs.

Requirements for entering the Runecrafting Guild and it’s minigame:

Level 50 Runecrafting
Rune Mysteries
The guild is available on Free and Members, but some specialized features are for members only.

You’ll have access to a new guild and the Runecrafting minigame - The Great Orb Project. We will also have the chance to get many new items for runecrafting, including a new outfit

So off I go……….. Let’s give this a peek…….

Nothing will kill you in the safe mini game unless you get poisoned so take some anti-poison with you.

The portal is upstairs….
Runecrafting Guild Portal

Once you enter, talk to the Wizard……..
Entering the Guild

This map allows you to see where an altar is if you use the talisman with it. (I really don’t know why a level 50 runecrafter would need the map - wouldn’t that help new people more?)
Runecrafter’s Map

Start the mini game by talking to Wizard Acantha. You need your right hand, head and two free inventory slots to help Wizard Acantha to contain green orbs and Wizard Vief to contain the yellow ones. A lot like Castle Wars……

Wizard Acantha

The lag is making things pretty difficult to move. I don’t know how I managed to quit before I could even go through the game portal but I did! Now I have to wait for another game. Now I have to wait 15 minutes before I can go back in - not just another game. Oh drat - it happened again after I waited it out! Sigh…….. I’m not liking this…

After playing the Great Orb Game a few dozen times, I have come to the conclusion that I am not liking it………. It’s ok - I suppose - for people who like mini games that take a lot of your time but don’t give much xp (unless you are on the winning team all the time for those tokens). It is easy really but irritating. When you first try, it’s hard to know what the heck to do and your wands interchange on you, causing you to undo other people’s efforts. It takes 10k tokens for the special staff that doesn’t really do much to help the crafter. You get 100 tokens per round won. Long, long, long time running around for so little. Now that I’ve given it a go, I’m going to give it a pass. It’s about 40+ tokens for tele tabs to specific altars. 1 token will give you 1 pure essense. Other than that - it’s back to regular crafting for me!

One of the wizards in the game will repair your pouches or sell you some - only large and giant. I have to say this - 25k for a large pouch and 50k for a giant pouch? Geeeeeeeeeeeezzzzz! And 9k to have a large pouch repaired and 12k for a giant - how is this giving us a break?

Note: After losing, I don’t know how many, Calquat trees to disease, we can now have them looked after by giving the gardener 8 poison ivy berries………. sigh……. at least I won’t have to risk any more of them.

Last note on this post:
Runescape, itself, said the only thing that would kill you in this mini-game was if you were poisoned. I saw nothing that would poison you while trying this out - so don’t worry about poison. Take your pouches with you though…….. during the rounds, you get un-noted pure essense in your inventory. You can craft them while doing the rounds but the last altar of the game is for the natures and I crafted whatever I got at that altar. A bank inside the guild would be really helpful but as it is, taking tele to Draynor would be a good idea so you can zip to the bank and then run back to the Wizard’s Tower.

Working on Whatever

August 12th, 2008

I haven’t been on Runescape a great deal lately but I have been whittling away the distance to a crafting level. When I finish the load of air orbs (and the unpowered orbs), then attach to the battlestaffs - I may or may not be close enough to the level to break down and cut all the gems I’ve been saving to make Castle Wars rings, ruby amulets and diamond bolts. That is about all I make with the gems because those are things I can use or get the highest xp and/or gp. I do have a lot of sand and a good amount of seaweed so I can start the vicious air orb circle all over again………….sigh ………… but such great xp and gp in crafting and magic! As always, going to Lunar Isle to make the glass with the Lunar spell give you almost 1.4 molten glass per 1 sand/seaweed.

No update today so I am going to try to get the crafting level. Sigh….. So much has been happening in real life though. My sweet black cat, Meg, was sick and is now on the road to happy pouncing once again. She’s needed intense care, that included special food every couple of hours - so I am really tired right now. If any of you read MM’s eHow (My brother calls me double m) - you will notice very few stories or articles on animals. Even though I was raised with dogs (German Shepherds), I have avoided telling about my real life adventures (Which include going to New York, Florida, California and many states inbetween - for DOG SHOWS!) because an idiot teacher embarrassed me in front of everyone by screaming at me to stop telling dog stories. I know this sounds so dumb really - but that horrible scene really did the trick. (She was dismissed from teaching though - smiling) I have a hard time telling dog stories. As you can see from one of my articles, (How To House Train Your Puppy) I’ve had lots of dogs and cats - all of those pics are creatures I love - some still here and some gone now. I would not be exaggerating to say I tended at least 400 dogs, 200 cats and 17 cockatiels (raised a few clutches myself!) so far! I also have had experiences midwifing foals and bonding with horses. (Talk about stories untapped!) - Oooooppppppps - any way - Meg is getting back on her beautiful black feet - sighing with happy relief. I made it a rule not to put real life pics on this blog - sorry. I use rl pics on Duelin’ Deals blog and eHow.

If you check out the How To Have Naturally Long Hair, you can see why I would like my character to have long hair. (My hair is growing like my farming - hehehehe! - weeds!) Hey - why do the guys on Runescape get to have hair to their waist? It should be even easier for girls to have that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhhhhhhhh welllllllllllll ——– back to crafting, after I check Miscellania and battlestaffs. (I am trying to stay in the top 200 farmers - blast it, it’s hard to stay up there now! One day not planting and I dropped 3 spots! I hope my Spirit tree is ready to health check!) Yup - Spirit tree is health checked - Smiling!

Meeting History Quest

Meeting History Quest

Jorral has found some interesting notes pertaining to the Enchanted Key you received in the Making History Quest. (If you’ve done the Making History Quest, it suggested you could put the enchanted key on your steel key ring.) This quest will help you discover more of the key’s unusual abilities. It will help you “see” into the past of RuneScape and give you a greater understanding of your beloved game world’s history.

Start At The Outpost

Requirements to complete Meeting History:
Making History
Druidic Ritual

Items Needed:
Enchanted Key - If you don’t have it, Jorral will give it to you. If you do have it, then you didn’t finish locating all the rewards from Making History and it would be on your steel key ring.

To start this quest, speak to Jorral in the Outpost, north-west of West Ardougne. He’ll talk about what Runescape was like in the past. He will also notice you don’t have a key and give one to you.

Talk To Jorral

Jorral will then ask you if you would like to deposit all your items in the bank, select yes. He will give you the Enchanted Key notes that will give you a description of where to look using the hot/cold function of your key whether you bank or not. If you miss the yes option, bank all your goods - including rings and such.

Would You Care To Bank?

Read the notes:

Notes

Chose “Feel” enchanted key and it will tell you what the key feels like, and plays the hot/cold game with you to find the areas you need to go.

Feel Your Way There

First it directs you to Farmer Brunty’s sheep farm. When it must be the spot, rub the key and you will be transported to a farm.

Teleport

Go into the farm area. Roger tells you to go away. The dog says Yip Yap. The baby won’t stop crying. The boy, Jack is trying to light a fire with sparking rocks. Speak to Laura and she’ll tell you that she is from the past.

The Farm Life

“Rub” the enchanted key to leave the farm and go back to talk to Jorrul. You say you want to go back to explore more and he tells you that rubbing different parts of the key will take you different places. he will ask you to go back to the farm and speak to the rest of the family to find out more about the past. You have to speak to Jack, Roger and Laura. After you’ve spoken to all of them “Rub” the key and press part B.

The Key Sections

There are three parts of the key. Part A is distant past. Part B is a more recent past. The loop part of the key is the present.

Roger seems to be completely past caring, except for his baby girl.

Poor Roger

Even though Jack is in a hurry, ask if he would like his mind read. You will tell him about things in his past:
He wanted to be known as - Super Jack the Fantasmic.
He starting magic with - Cosmic, mind, body and fire runes.
He got his first runes from - Misalionar.
He started learning magic when he was - Seven.
He started to learn magic by - trying to start fires.
He hoped to - Create chocolate cakes.
He wanted to use his new powers for - Good.
His favourite flavour of milk was - Strawberry.

Talk to Jack again. He wants you to find out why his mother’s plants never grew. The family is weak and starving and they need food.

Jack is Hungry

Speak to Laura and she will wish she had a map of Runescape.

Wish For a Map

Go around to the back of the house to speak to Sarah again, Ask her “About trees” and what she thinks is wrong with the plants. She’ll tell you that they may need to be closer to water.

About The Trees

Then use the second option - General chat - she’ll tell you that she is ill and that she used to cry a lot when she was a child. She takes guam, honey and milk to make it better now.

The Medicine That Would Help

“Rub” the key and return to part A. Search the house for some charcoal and papyrus. Draw a map of Runescape using the papyrus on the charcoal. Find Laura and give her the map.

Search for Papyrus and charcoal

Go back to part B to speak to Laura. Now she wishes she’d taken better care of the family brooch. Return to part A and search the bedroom for a brooch. Bury the brooch in the soil mound near the garden using the shovel near the trees. Go back to part B, search the shed in the garden for a spade and use it on the soil mound to find the brooch. Give this to Laura.

Dig Up The Brooch

Return to part A. Search the house for a pestle and mortar, guam leaf, a bowl, and a bucket of milk. Leave the house and go to the back garden where Sarah is in Part B and use the bowl on the beehive to get a bowl of honey. Grind the guam with the pestle and mortar. Next, use the bucket of milk with the bowl of honey and use that with the ground guam.

Medicine For Baby Sarah

Give the medicine to the crying baby. A cut scene will follow showing a group of humans coming to Runescape by jumping through a portal.

Through the Portal

While in part A, get a spade from the back garden and click the pile of gardening pots. Dig up all the trees and rearrange to their best advantage. Replant the trees in this order going clockwise using my avocado spot as the starting point. Avocado, Lemon, Mango, Pear, Plum, and Quince. Each tree will show improvement in Part B as you get them right but Sarah’s dialogue won’t change until they are all right.

Starting Point - Avocado seedling

Speak to Jack in part B again and you’ll see a cut scene of Guthix with runes flying around. Jack explains that he only saw Guthix and Guthix wanted balance and harmony for the humans and for all of Runescape.

Guthix and His Runes

For the last step of this quest, return to present. Go talk to Jorral. Tell him what you have discovered.

Rewards From The Key

Another Day, Another Level

August 4th, 2008

I worked on Summoning once I got back to the computer today. I am also working on a few other things in rl……. but now I’m making mith bars so I can get that last blasted 14k xp for the level. Yesterday, I went to the Yanille shard trader and swapped pouches for shards. That helps a great deal but - as I said in a previous post - you will never be able to trade in the top five familiar pouches because of the 5 level requirement. I set up the extras for what I can see is the best xp for the least shards and I am looking forward to the day I can make the Unicorn Stallion! Talk about a nice pet! I am saving up unground unicorn horns every time I go to the Catherby planting area. I love that unicorn! (They will probably mess it up graphically before I can do them though - remember how really adorable the black ones in wildy were? I actually wanted those as a desktop pet because they were so dang adorable!)

Ok got the level!

Summoning 73

Shoot - it’s over 100k to the next level. This is getting into tough territory - phew! Now I can make the Obsidian golem - and I will get one out to show it here. It adds an extra 7 invisible mining levels so I will take it to my slayer assignment of Dark Beasts and get more rune ore while I have the golem out. I did a few of those so now I have less than 100k to go - just “feels” easier now, snickering…………………..

Obby Mining Pal

I did not notice any difference in getting the rune ore with my Obby golem out. It seems the Dark Beasts no longer drop charms…… my my my……….. Ok they drop a few - maybe once every 10 or 15 - at least during this set.

Obsidian Golem

I do wish the bank would let us set that amount after 10 - I would set it at 200 or 100 and love to keep it that way - why does it always have to be your last x amount? It’s irritating!

Well, back to my assignment and we’ll see if we get a quest tomorrow!
